SHOW QUEEN

For most events at the show the real competition is on the day itself. But for the title of Show Queen the quest starts months before the show. Local businesses vie with each other as they each choose their candidates for the event. As these businesses sponsor their own potential queen there is a strong support team around each of the girls to ensure that she chooses the right dress, shoes etc and that’s even before you mention makeup and hair!

 

The ‘Queens’ as they become known are not only interviewed by a panel of judges but they must also attend an array of local functions as they strife to show the locals that if they are chosen as the Show Queen they will be a worthy winner.

In the run up to the show there is rumour and speculation far and wide as to whom will wear the tiara of the Queen. It’s been said by some that the betting men run a purse on the candidates.

On show day the excitement builds to a crescendo as the Queens are driven in splendour through the crowds to the Ferry Wagon where the winner will be announced.
